J. David Stevens

David Stevens is a highly experienced leader in the medical device industry, serving as the Chief Commercial Officer at Abiomed, where he has played a pivotal role since December of 2009. In his current capacity, David is responsible for steering global commercial strategies and driving global growth to treat more patients across Abiomed's product lines and markets.

David's tenure at Abiomed spans nearly 15 years, marked by progressive leadership roles. Before his current position, he served as senior vice president, vice president and general manager of the Americas where he contributed to strategic initiatives that strengthened the company's market position and optimized the company's operations across the Americas, achieving substantial regional growth.  Prior to these roles, David served as zone general manager for the Eastern United States from July 2019 to April 2021.  His foundational role as director of sales laid the groundwork for his subsequent leadership roles, where he drove sales excellence and expanded the company's initial footprint with Impella® across the Southeast.

Before joining Abiomed, David gained valuable experience at Cordis Johnson & Johnson, where he held several key positions over nearly nine years, including division Manager, worldwide training manager, account executive and sales representative. His diverse experiences at Cordis provided him with a strong foundation in sales, training, and management.

David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in textile chemistry from Clemson University, where he was also an accomplished member of the varsity men's swimming team and met his wife Jennifer.  They have been married for more than 30 years, are the proud parents of three daughters and just welcomed their first grandchild to the family.
