59-Year-Old Finds a New Passion After Surviving Heart Attack
In 2022, Seishiro Masuyama was driving when he started feeling sick. He quickly pulled over and called his colleagues asking for help. Seishiro was then transported to Asahikawa Medical University in northern Japan, where Dr. Yuya Kitani diagnosed him with an acute myocardial infarction, or a heart attack. Following emergency stenting, and using a combination of ECMO and Impella CP, Dr. Kitani switched to Impella 5.0 for more blood flow. Seishiro’s condition improved, and after 8 days, the Impella 5.0 was removed. He was on the road to recovery. Today, the 59-year-old is not only back at work, but he’s also playing golf and has taken up a new passion of playing badminton.
