Mom of Two and Avid Tennis Player Recovers From Cardiomyopathy

Forty-two-year-old Jentry Workman, a wife, mother of two, and avid tennis player, began experiencing flu-like symptoms. Jentry was referred to St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, OK, where physicians determined she had developed cardiomyopathy which caused her to go into cardiogenic shock.

Jentry was transferred by ambulance to the St. Francis Hospital campus, where interventional cardiologist, Dr. Darwin Childs, implanted the Impella CP® to support her weak heart. Though she was considered for a heart transplant, her condition began to improve within a few days. Jentry’s heart recovered and Impella® heart pump was removed. She was discharged home to her husband and children a week later. Today, Jentry's heart function is normal and she's back to playing tennis and enjoying her busy routine as a mom.
