Abiomed collects certain personal information on our Websites to communicate with you through newsletters and other mailings. If you would like to receive the newsletter and other information material offered on our Websites on a regular basis, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. 

For this purpose, we use a double-opt-in procedure, in which you receive a confirmation e-mail and must click on the confirmation link in this e-mail.

You can provide further details when you register that allow Abiomed to personally contact you or notify you about events in your area.

We send out the Abiomed newsletter approximately four times a year. We also send out information e-mails about special events such as trade fairs or workshops in your area periodically (e.g.: approximately four to six times per year).

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT & HOW DO WE USE IT

When the newsletter is sent to you, opening and click rate tracking is performed when you open and review it. Here, we record how many newsletters were opened and the number of times each link in the e-mail were clicked. The analysis is statistical and is not linked to a specific recipient e-mail address or user’s IP address.

You can revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time by unsubscribing using the link at the end of the newsletter.

LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING 

Insofar as the processing is based on your consent. The recording and evaluation of the statistical opening and click rates enables us to assess how the newsletter is accepted and which content was interesting or less interesting for the recipients overall. It is also necessary to detect errors in delivery. The data processing serves as a basis for improving the content and design of the newsletter (legitimate interest).

THIRD-PARTY PROCESSING

In the area of newsletter dispatch or newsletter tracking, we work together with the service provider HubSpot, Inc. (“Hubspot”). Hubspot is a software company from the United States located at 25 First Street, 2nd Floor, Cambridge, MA 02141 USA, with whom we have an agreement on order processing. Hubspot is an integrated software solution that we use to cover different aspects of our online marketing. This includes, among other uses: e-mail marketing, reporting, and contact forms.

Because Hubspot is a service provider located in the United States, processing of personal data may take place outside of the European Union. Abiomed has concluded a data processing addendum with Hubspot which guarantees an adequate level of protection for the data through the implementation of EU standard contractual clauses.

DURATION OF DATA STORAGE

The above-mentioned personal data will remain stored if you wish to receive the newsletter and do not revoke your consent. Data that can no longer be assigned to an identifiable person is anonymized and may be stored for longer.
